A great Saturday at Pico. A lot of the Summit trails had packed powder throughout or on wide edges. There were rocks and exposed hazards to watch out for, but in general a fun day in the fluffier stuff. Groomers were icy by end of day and powder started to ski out, but should be great again after another 6 inch dump tomorrow night

Typically Christmas conditions are rarely good. But this year we were blessed with 100% coverage. Unfortunately, 100% effort was not reciprocated. You would think pico would step up and show its "A-game". Nope. Unopened lifts and a lack of grooming during one of the most crowded weeks? While every other mountain around groomed well over 45% of their trails, pico groomed 23%. Sure, leave some trails with bumps (I love and often ride bumps, just not when they're unridable and unenjoyable sheets of ice - like they are without fresh snow - it's been over a week since the last dump). They only groomed 49er from the summit and never anything else. You would think they would mix it up and lay some corduroy on at least one or possibly two more trails from the top, especially over this rare Christmas. Nope. They even stopped grooming mid pike? Say it ain't so. Still, i had a good time but thought pico dropped the ball on a rare christmas.
