Bad Gastein gives you direct access to 2 major ski areas and you can take the free ski bus or a €30 taxi to two others. If its busy the main lift out of Bad Gastein can be crowded and this can be a pain. The best skiing for beginner/intermediate is in the Sportsgastein 1500-2500m area which football pitch wide open reds and a fantastic blue.Plenty of variey on the slopes for intermediates and advanced.Hard for beginners as the nursery slopes are limited and hard work for beginners. The town is pretty and has the renowned thermal spa beside the ski lift (€18 for 3 hours).Apres ski is ok.Heggbloms Swedish Bar/Silver bullet/Eden are all in a small area and are lively. The resort is popular with Scandavanians which adds flavour.
