I believe the original person to have reviewed Chapagny-en-Vanoise must have confused it will the village of Les Coches, which has motivated me to write this review to correct any confusion that may arrise. Both Champagny-en-Vanoise and Les Coches are satellite villages of La Plagne, but they are in very different locations. Les Coches is in the centre of the Paradiski domain and is a departure point for the Vanoise Express linking to Peisey in Les Arcs. A great spot for those who want to explore all of Paradiski (Les Arcs and La Plagne). Champagny, on the other hand, is located in the La Plagne ski domain, but on the other side of the mountain. It actually shares the same valley as the Three Valleys, and Courchevel can be seen in the distance across the valley. Meaning that to access it, you would take the train to Moutiers rather than to Bourg Saint Maurice or Aime La Plagne. If you are confused, check out the Paradiski interactive map: http://www.paradiski.com/skiplan/skiplan.php?lang=en It's a great location if you want to stay someplace particulary beautiful: the village is tucked into a tree-filled mountain side and gives the feeling of a real mountain village, with chalet-style buildings - not just purpose-built apartment blocks like most of La Plagne. I think that it is particularly good for all levels of downhill skiers, but I would not reccommend it for experts that want a good location to explore all of Paradiski (it would be a very difficult feat to go over to Les Arcs to ski from here). And of course, it is a wonderful location to be for those who cross-country ski as it is linked by gondola to Champgny-le-Haut, gateway to the Vanoise National Park.
