I grew up skiing Taos so excuse me if I am a little biased. Although Taos looks incredibly daunting from the bottom, I can personally guarantee that kids can learn to ski here. There are plenty of greens and blues for anyone to learn on. As for the advanced skier, there is a plethora of options. Both Highline ridge and West basin are well renown for having some of the best terrain in the region. My personal favorites are the glade runs, as they are some of the best I have skied anywhere in the nation. For the advanced skier, I would recommend runs such as Billy Sol and Walkyries Glade. In terms of the culture, it doesn't have the glitz and polish of Vail and Beaver creek or any of the Colorado resorts. However, it does have the most authentic feel and people that I have experienced. The town is essentially a small adobe hippie village and is a must visit if you are not staying in it. Be sure to eat at Alley Cantina, Orlando's or Common Fire during your stay. In short, Taos is an Incredible mountain to ski for the entire family, especially in the spring.

Only Blackcomb Whistler has better skiing than Taos. You may have to put up with cold and edging hard pack
