This winter the TGV Lyria will travel from Lille directly and swiftly to the Swiss ski region of Valais.

English skiers can take the Eurostar from London St. Pancras to the northern French city of Lille, then ride the TGV Lyria directly into the Valais. This time-saving winter arrival option means once the TGV Lyria departs Lille you will arrive in Visp in seven hours, and in Zermatt in eight hours.

The TGV Lyria will travel from Lille to Brig every Saturday from 22nd December, 2012 to 13th April, 2013. Take the 06:57 from St. Pancras to Lille, then the "Train à Grande Vitesse" will depart from Lille at 10:02 and arrive in Visp at 16:57. The journey to Zermatt continues with the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGB) at 17:10

The express train will carry around 360 passengers; seats can be booked now. It will be possible to take skis and snowboards directly onto the train without the payment of a supplement. The ticket price also includes a meal.
