    Little Galena, Illinois, is arguably one of the prettiest 19th century towns in the Heartland.     Galena, Ill., got a little colder recently but no one seems to mind - at least as long as they can still get out to ski or board. Five inches fell on Chestnut Mountain overnight and more snow is expected. With a solid 48-72" base and snow falling, the area hasn't found the need to make more snow recently. Full Article

    Chestnut is one of the top resorts in the Great Lakes region for snowboarders. The Far Side, with its own triple chair, is a seven-acre terrain park. They also have a wonderful rail garden built on top of the ski hill next to the lodge, and terrain features are placed on other slopes and trails to keep it interesting. Full Article
