Saddle up the horse and ride to Jackson. If you don’t, you’re a Loser. This ski area is phenomenal and it’s less than five hours from SLC. It’s big, vast and varied. You can rodeo all you want in the backcountry with their ‘open gate’ policy into Grand Teton National Park and Bridger Teton National Forest. Just to be on the safe side, the resort offers a dedicated Backcountry Camp. Guests get comfy with backcountry safety equipment and etiquette while they explore some of the most outrageous skiing this side of the Alps. But after all the hiking and skiing you need to mosey over to the lower faces for a couple of laps on the Moose Creek and Union Pass quads. The infamous Jackson tram retired last season but a new peak chair enables continued access to Rendezvous Bowl. Not to worry a new tram will rise from the ashes in 2008.
