Great options on blue sky powder days. Most of the mountain is a wide open glade with very few trees until nearly half way down. This opens the snow to wind and solar effects, along with limited visibility during storms. But after a dump it can be magical!
Powder lasts longer than I expected !
Lack of trees limits options/visibility on white out days

Grand Targhee is a great medium sized mountain. More snow than anywhere else in this part of the country and a good variety of terrain. It is not a mega-resort like JH but rather still preserves a friendly feeling. On the very busiest days, the lift from the base area can have a wait of 10 min, but otherwise there's no wait. Even on the busiest days, the other lifts have zero wait and the mountain manages to spread people out so you don't notice a crowd.
More snow than anywhere else; no lift lines; great intermediate terrain
None.

Used to ski here a lot 30-45 yrs ago. Made a quick 2 day trip to reunite. First day mtn was blown down. I realize this is a fact of life and accept it. Second day dawned clear blue skies, NO wind, No NEW SNOW. My group, plus most locals and non locals got in line early to take advantage of nice weather. We stood in line for over one hour. Chair opened at 9:50. Very disappointed! Then, to top it off, chairs that close at 3:30, access was denied after 3:15, further cutting into the ski day. I listened to two different excuses, neither should be accepted by management from ski patrol or lift maintenance. There primary jobs are to open the mtn on time and safely. Other mtns with a lot more exposure and concerns do it every day on time and safely. I know, because I was on the team that makes it happen. Not sure if it is growing pains or a lack of management.
Fantastic snow and a mtn perfect for skiing powder.
Resort hasn't quite figured out how to be a resort. Resort has a tendency to cater to employees rather than paying public.

Been skiing here for 30 years and still love it. Best wide open terrain and snow anywhere. Taught my wife and kids to ski here and we come back every year.
Best mountain in America
Some too cool old locals

Targhee's parking lot completely filled around 8:30am which requires you to ride their shuttle system which is slow and unreliable. Locals are probably aware of this and are able to plan ahead, but there was no obvious warning on their website. I spent an additional 3 hours getting to the resort. I paid for a full day ticket, but was only able to ski a half day as a result. They refused to refund the difference. Very disappointed by the time wasted and the poor/disrespectful customer service team that refused to any attempts at restitution.

Long as there's plenty of Snow, it's a gem. Been skiing there around 15 years. Usually in jan or Feb. Need more Day lockers for skis and equipment, so don't have to haul in and out for a week of skiing. ITS A Pain!. Great staff. Fun,Fun hill. New years eve was cool! My favorite place to chill out. Lol... .
Great runs, worked there Jan-mar 2016.

The snow quality is great...if you can see it. The locals call it Grand Foghee for a reason. I've been there 3 times, and it's always so foggy you can't see anything. The dreamcatcher lift kept breaking down, the blackfoot lift is new, but it is soooo slow. Why not a hi-speed quad?? Parking was miserable. The traffic was back-up for a mile down the hill. All these little querks are ok if you're charging $60-$80 for a ticket, but at $100. No way. This place rests it's income solely on the snow. Everything else is a joke.
Good snow

Such a gem, but I hope it stays a secret. Mainly for the local Driggs crowd and students at BYUI (in Rexburg). Many are drawn to Jackson Hole and that is FINE ! We got lucky with a POW day in April. I was blown-away that it lasted SO LONG. Back East (& most resorts in the West), it's matted down within an hour or so, therefore you must get on it EARLY - because of the crowds. Not here. Well into the afternoon, you could still leave fresh tracks. Days like that and you can't wait to return. I was simply impressed away how awesome this resort was (& I've been to MOST of the Utah resorts too). My ONLY petty complaint that day, was the cloud cover, as you couldn't see the Tetons.
NO CROWDS, Awesome conditions, Great Atmosphere

Our family has been going to Targhee for 4 years. Our two children are 6 and 8. I don't think they know life not skiing Targhee, that is pretty cool. The mountain accommodations are not the best, but regardless represent amazing value. The mountain staff is helpful and quite knowledgeable. As for the skiing the mountain from a person that has been skiing for 40+ years, simply amazing. The POW left by storm dumps that hit this mountain boggle the mind. This mountain is the best kept secret in all of skiing.
Targhee is Simply a Family Gem
Can't spend more time

Spent three days riding at Grand Targhee 2/15-17/2018. Had an amazing time. Snowed all night before first day of riding and before 2pm it was literally knee deep and then the sun came out and it was amazing. Next two days were equally good but never saw the sun again and never saw the tetons. Top of the main lift on the 17th was downright terrifying the visibility was so poor it was skiing by feel. I suppose this is the price you pay for a constant snow cloud. Everyone was super friendly and I never had to wait in line.
Deep snow, no crowds, good terrain
Far from everywhere, low visibility at top
