good vibes, great terrain, STEEP
Lift Lines, Death Moguls, Being Shown up by cliff dropping 10 year olds
great place to ski, best vibe ever, super challenging. I am a very good skier, and yes I can ski it, but It takes a true master to make it look good here. If you can ski here, you can ski anywhere. This place is steep, and alot of spaces are narrow, and it is cliffy, so be careful out there when exploring. Mad River glen frowns on trimming trees, so there aren't any locals making it nice, so alot of places have one skiable line, where there could be three or four with a couple snips. My biggest problem is EVERYBODY here is competition for the best snow in the woods, which means everything is skied out real quick even with the limited lift capacity, where at other places that have a lighter talent pool can often be more enjoyable. And one must be careful following a set of lone tracks, chances are the person who made them is better than you. Get used to watching from the lift as some prepubescent on a sick set of skis drops the cliff that no one that age has any business doing. the lines are long, weekends with snow involve 45 minute waits, but I have never been happier standing in line, and after your 45 minute trip down bullet proof moguls, you're going to need the rest. Snow wise, typically better than resorts further south, but definitely not as much Stowe, Smuggs, or Jay. All and all, worth it to come have an experience you definitely can't have anywhere else. a true masterpiece of Vermont Skiing.
