Verbier - La Tzoumaz

Verbier is one of the world's top ski resorts. It is Europe's leader for off piste skiing and free ride, though there is no shortage of good skiing for the less experienced. It was chosen for its position in 1946 as one of the sunniest spots in Switzerland. The traditional style resort itself is pleasant and quite buzzy but certainly not picture postcard or full of ultra posh shops and hotels catering for super rich like say a Zermatt. The après ski is second to none. The fact that it is so easy to get to is not the least of its attractions. It is at the head of the Four valleys ski area offering limitless choice of skiing.

    Unbelievable skiing in the Alps!

    Pros: Terrain, Off-piste, scenery, nightlife
    Cons: some crowded lift lines, annoying lift transitions

    Its so good we left England and moved here
