I live in ATL CAtaloochee is great and I have been going for years, all the complaints are true, all the advice is also true, Forget going on the weekend unless it's a whiteout and you know how to ride then it'll be the thrill of your life dodging people lodged in the snow. Cataloochee is 3hrs from atlanta and it is great to go practice your turns on the weekdays super cheap w/student i.d. bring your own equipment and lunch or mega beverage. Ride till they close and drive on home. This is skiing and anytime you can slide it's a miracle we live in a place that even has access. So what if the rental guy is SURLY. Your the one that does not even ride enough to buy some basic gear of your own. If we all stroll in the park with a WE attitude instead of a ME attitude, you'll have fun no matter what the conditions are!! I'd rather ride Catalooochee than sit at home watching winter xgames in aspen.
