Sundown Mountain, one of the Lower Midwest's larger ski areas, has just a couple of weeks left on their season pass sale. Individual memberships will be going up by $100 on Nov. 13.
An individual season pass is currently $285 and will be going up to $385 on the above date. A senior membership is currently $90 and must be purchased at Sundown. Family memberships, available for five or more, under 18 living in same household, must also be purchased by the above date. You can add season rental equipment for $130 per individual.
Season pass holders also have full access to Silver Mountain in Idaho and half-off lift tickets at Ski Snowstar Winter Sports Park in Illinois, Seven Oaks in Iowa and Sunburst in Wisconsin. It's one of the few Heartland ski areas to offer a completely reciprocal two-region season pass.
Sundown is hosting a Job Fair this Saturday, Nov. 5, and an Open House and Ski/Board Swap the following Saturday, Nov. 13. The tentative opening date is scheduled for Nov. 25.
Sundown, with a vertical drop of 475 feet, is located along a high escarpment above Dubuque. You can see three states—Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin—from the top of the ski area. The runs, carved through a century-old cedar forest, deliver a scenic, almost Western-like experience.
