The wife and I spent most of this season boarding Saturdays at Sipapu to celebrate my turning 40 and boarding free!
Sipapu is less than two hours from the heart of Santa Fe through small mountain towns and forest roads. The drive is always beautiful no matter which route you take. The staff at Sipapu treats you like an old and welcomed friend. For first timers, the platter lift is a huge obstacle in the learning process. But once you get past that, the mountain as a whole is wonderful for learning on in that it is small and you never feel overwhelmed or lost. (This was my wife's first year snowboarding and she loved all the blue runs!) On it's busiest day it is still enjoyable and lift waits minor when compared to large, crowded, popular locales. Food is typical lodge-priced fare, but always appetizing and filling. Santa Fe Brewing Company on tap! You can get some great deals if you plan ahead. Thanks Sipapu for a great season and we will see you next year!
