I have been to numerous resorts across New England, Utah, Austria, Switzerland, and Australia, and have been skiing at Sunapee for over 10 years! In terms of size, Sunapee is the biggest in western, and southern New Hampshire, but is average compared to the other resorts in New England. I can attest to the food not being great, the Spruce Lodge being crappy, and their being nothing to do around Sunapee unless you are staying at your friends place. However, Sunapee is truly world-class in its snowmaking, and grooming, and is consistently voted as one of the top resorts in the country in that respect. For Intermediates, and Advanced skiers who want to shred on moderately steep, perfectly groomed, wide trails this is your place, and beginners have an entirely separate portion of the resort that is free of more experienced skiers and riders zooming past. I consider myself to be an expert, and contrary to popular belief, there are quite a few options for glade, and advanced skiing. If its a powder day at Sunapee, just ask ether a local, a freestyler, or a racer and they will be sure to guide you to the steep and deep stuff. Overall, most of my friends have been impressed by how well managed the mountain is, and are frequent visitors, especially considering it is only 2 hours flat from Boston.
