Loon... I want to like it, people from MA seem to love it (and Sunapee) ... My two least favorite mountains in NH. It's unskiable on weekends, and there really isn't anything to satisfy an advanced skier. I ski it sometimes bc it's on my pass, but cringe soon as I get off the exit. Waterville is much prettier, and less crowded, Cannon is much much more challenging. Would rather drive extra to Wildcat, Sunday River or into VT and hit Magic or Smuggs. If groomed blue cruisers are your bag, and you struggle in moguls or ungroomed snow, this will be your place (which is totally fine!). If you want some thrills look elsewhere.
Probably a good mountain to learn on.
Too crowded, parking fills up fast, new 8 seater goes nowhere remarkable, no challenging terrain for advanced skiers

Loons got great variety and they’re snowmaking is top notch, but their food is expensive and parking gets filled quickly
Great snowmaking
Big crowds

Great mountain but need to get there early to get parking. Good selection of food but it is expensive. If you can get good parking, suggest packing lunch and tailgating it. Great family mountain but it’s an expensive day and because it’s New England, you never know how much of the mountain will be open. Don’t be discouraged, it’s a great place just do your due diligence to maximize your day.
Great mountain. Lots of groomers.
Parking, pricey food.

I skied Loon a ton 10+ years ago. Was much better back then. Less crowded. Has always been more of a teenager / college mountain. Not the best terrain or grooming or conditions. But the gondola was cool and the prices were reasonable. Now it’s oversold and overhyped. Lines are too long and not justified. Might be different if terrain was a 10/10 but that’s not the case. Last minute day trip for college kids from Boston? Meh. Plan ahead better, drive another ten minutes, and hit Cannon. Or don’t. Leave it for me :)
Parking - Must arrive early or you’re in a shuttle lot. lines - some of the worst lines. Need more mid mountain lifts. Gondola line is ridiculous.

On our first skication this year we made the rounds through Vermont and New Hampshire ending with Loon. We always stop there last because it does not disappoint and this year was no exception. The new 8 seat lift (Kanga 8) was fast and efficient and the snow was fantastic. Wish I was there now :)
Best snow I skied this year!
The steepness on the blacks is sick

Be aware of taking buses or renting condo's. They have taken away the buses to run people, through the busiest traffic to offsite lots. If you are staying near by, you can not get home, people are stranded all morning.
Great snow making
Buses are a mess, no access to condos unless you drive.

The current plan to replace a perfectly good high speed quad with an eight person bubble chair is not well thought out. First of all the Lift ride is under six minutes so no true need being covered on such a short lift. Even before Covid the attendants do not proactively load 4 people on each chair. If they could, there would never be a bad line here so they do not need to replace this lift. At the very least the new lift should go high enough to access the tote road chair for reaching south mountain. The real problem lift is the gondola which is a super low uphill capacity lift. Even the purchase of an old used or reconditioned double or triple chair would alleviate this problem as anything would be more efficient at moving people through line quicker. I find all the employees working there to be super pleasant. The only exception being the parking lot attendants who will not give you an open spot even when it’s in Plainview once they close the main lot.
Location location
Very poor main lift. Gondola is an antique and get big cues.

A lot of these reviews are for the hotel (which is not owned by Loon Mountain). This is one of the best mountains I've ever skied at and any complaint about the Mountain Club should be taken down. Loon doesn't own lodging.
