"A diamond in the rough!" No ski area I've been to better epitomizes this statement. Skiing there at the end of March was great. Yes, they had lift troubles but once new owners spend some money, I would expect this little mountain to go crazy. Best thing about Red Lodge Mountain is the town of Red Lodge itself. No other ski area in the Rockies has as much character without the pretense that comes with places like Vail, Aspen, Sun Valley or Jackson.
By the way, had an unbelievable dinner at "Bridge Creek" right downtown. The locally-raised beef and fresh seafood blew us away and Peter, the owner, really knows his wines. Don't tell him though, or he'll raise his unbelievably low prices. Great skiing, great locals, great wine. Need I say more?
