The Homestead Overview

Region Wide Comparison

Area Profile

Celebrating its 25th season of skiing, The Homestead is located within one of America’s most beautiful areas: The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. It was built with an unmatched commitment to environmental excellence; offering skiers and riders stunning views of Lake Michigan. It is run with an unwavering dedication to exceptional service and for that reason lift ticket sales are limited, so the slopes aren’t crowded.

The Homestead’s beauty and style draw couples looking for a romantic weekend while the uncommonly civilized, family-friendly ambiance draws families with young children. And the best lift ticket, rental, lesson and ski packages in Northern Michigan – guaranteed. Come, ski why.

Lodging Profile

The resort’s accommodations are as inviting as its setting. You can choose to stay in the romantic, couple’s only hotel; a family-friendly resort hotel; a North Country lodge; or an historic inn. There are privately owned homes and condominiums with one to five bedrooms – with convenient ski-in / ski-out access.

Services Profile

Childcare, children’s skiing and snowboarding programs; alpine, Nordic, snowboard, snowshoe and ice skate rentals; downhill, snowboard, telemark and cross country lessons; ski shop with tuning & waxing; Rocky’s for apparel, New Leaf Health and Fitness Center and Spa Amira and “Good Morning, How may I help you” countless times.

Area Recreation Profile

It is surrounded by the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, a unit of the National Park Service, with 70,000 acres of preserved and protected beauty, the largest freshwater dune system and 35 miles of beach. Within the Lakeshore there are trails – some easy, some challenging – and overlooks with stunning vistas. The trails and overlooks afford those who wish to cross country ski or snowshoe to chance to enjoy an unequaled natural setting in winter white stillness. The Lakeshore also offers ranger led programs that are popular with all. The community of Glen Arbor, though small, offers quaint shops, galleries, bakeries, gourmet French, Italian and Regional American cuisine and several small inns.

Snowboarding Profile

Terrain Park located on Spring Beauty featuring a rail, mailbox and two table top jumps. Learning terrain, lessons and rentals available. Riders welcome on all slopes.
