I find Shanty Creek to be in the top 3 ski hills / resorts in Michigan. The place has it all, fine dining, lodges overlooking ski hills, great downhill terrain, superb lift capacity, just enough park.

They really are Boyne Mountains only competition in terms of resort skiing in the Lower Peninsula. The place has some awesome runs, and pretty challenging blues and blacks.

They had a well maintained half pipe both times I was there. The lift lines were short, and they had lifts everywhere you wanted one.

You can find better deals at Shanty Creek than you can at Boyne Mountain. Especially on liftopia.com. This place is awesome to go to for the price ($28.99 per person or so)

This place is definitely worth checking out @ $28.99 lift tickets during peak season. You factor in cost and Boyne / Nubs Nob begin to look less appealing if you are on a budget.
