Full review

Shanty creek is a premium Michigan ski resort. I have been there twice and both times it was a pleasure. The lakeview restaurant is amazing, it consists of two ski hills. Schuss is the bigger hill, it has 38 runs ranging from begginer to advanced. It has great alpine skiing with several great black diamonds including: Pink Schussy Cat, Blue Skidoo, and my personal favorite Kingdom Come. It has state of the art quads, 5 to be exact. There are wide non-crowded runs. there are bumps, nice staff, and great begginer skiing. Schuss also has good food and always entertaining competitions including canoe races(on the snow), cupcake eating contests, and the world famous slush cup. Both hills also have good ski patrol coverage. Speaking of the other hill Summit is situated underneath Summit Village which is a very nice hotel including a pool, a great restaurant, awesome rooms, a spa and fitness center, and of course a ski hill. While Summit doesnt quite live up to the standards set by Schuss it sets a great destination for the second day of a weekend trip. Summit includes alpine skiing, night skiing, a small variety of runs ranging from begginer to advanced, a decent terain park, and hidden runs that are not listed on the trail map including one at the bottom of the lower long bottom. In short Shanty creek is one of the best resorts around for recreational skiing, competitive skiing, and just sitting in front of the fire place and relaxing.
