Good runs, well maintained, freindly lifties, great snow, great deals.
No glade skiing-yet,
Indianhead Mt. is the Northern Michigan classic. The area is well maintained. It seems like they throw a new coat of paint on the lifts every year and take pride in their resort. The lifts are not high speed, but it's only a 600' vertical, so get over it. I would prefer that Indianhead keeps their lift prices low, instead of investing millions in a new lift that does what one of their current lifts is already doing. The lifties are friendly, helpful & professional. The onsite ski shop is handy. The trails are longer than average for the Midwest. Many of the trails get steeper right near the bottom. My faviorite trail is FIS. The West Winabago Headwall is a rush. This area gets a lot of natural lake effect snow & they also have snowmaking. The bars at the Mt. are fun & feature local beer on tap. One bar, Dudley's stays open late & features great live bands on the weekends that play late. You don't need to worry about driving, because they have lots of lodging options right there.
If you want to have fun skiing in the Upper Midwest, & love good deals, good terrain, nice folks, and great snow, give Indianhead Mt. a try, it delivers.
