Full review

Being located in western MD, this resort gets great weather. I have been going to Wisp for years and have never been there when there was not at least some natural snow. However once the trails are tracked out, Wisp is boring. The top 100 vertical feet are almost flat and there is not a single "true" black diamond run. The ski patrol is really cool and very chill. There are few ropes and few rules which is pretty awesome because if you know the area well, you can follow the mountain bike trails and jump off some of the small rocks and boulders. But BE CAREFULL, sometimes, later in the season, freezing rain turns all the un-groomed runs into solid ice; falling off a trail in these conditions can result in a potentialy fatal slide (I've seen it happen before). The bottom line is that on a powder day, it is the best resort within day-tripping distance of Baltimore. On any other day I would recommend 7Springs or Whitetail.
