Recently i visited Sunday River w a group of friends, the level of service i experienced from Danielle was one of the most positive & memorable experiences i encountered during my visit. She is the penultimate customer service person and deserves special recognition..
Top notch customer service
distance to travel

I have skid my whole life and been to many mountains. The customer service at Sunday River is despicable. They are extremely rude. They must not be able to find any good help that far north.
The Mountain is decent.
The customer service at Sunday River is the worst

Sunday River is an absolute gem on the east coast. It seems to fly slightly below the radar for many in the NY/NJ area that tend toward the closer Vermont resorts. It has reliably lower crowds, especially midweek. Weekends bring in folks from Boston and the local areas but this place can accommodate the crowd across its numerous peaks. This size also means you can come here with a group of pros and total newbies and each group will have a great time. There's a huge amount of terrain variety and each mountain pod feels somewhat unique. They've clearly worked hard on their snowmaking at this mountain as the conditions were fantastic during my recent week-long stay, despite minimal natural snowfall. I found the base lodges, especially at Barker, feel a bit tired and in need of some freshening. On the other hand, they also impart the classic New England ski vibe that I'm a sucker for. I personally prefer it somewhat over the sleek minimalist redesigns so many other classic New England ski resorts have been getting(along with complimentary price hikes). Overall, Sunday River is a magical place and probably my favorite on the east coast for its reliability and vibe.
Great value, reliable snowmaking, feels huge
Apres ski, Aging base lodges

I love coming to Sunday River, the people are lovely and always having fun, playing great music at the base of each lift. I find the price a bit high for this resort with slow ski lifts and long lines. It really eats into your day. Other than this, if weather permitting the snow is great and they add snow if it starts to melt because of the million people that show up daily. This is a great resort to start and fall in love with skiing.
Great skiing runs to keep going all day, great team
Too many people, long ski lift lines at times

I've been going to Sunday River since I was 3 1/2, I'm 23 now. I learned everything I know about skiing at this resort. I remember having the time of my life in ski school when I was little, and swimming at the indoor pool with friends and family on our vacations. As I grew up, I grew with the mountain and there was always new terrain for me to try out and explore. I skied my first double black diamond (Norther Exposure) on the mountain when I was about 10 or 11. When I got older, about 15, I was in high school and I remember my first time ever skiing down White Heat. I was so nervous, but so excited at the same time. I made it down the whole way without falling or overthinking, I just went for it, and I was so excited we went to the pro shop and I bought myself a long sleeve shirt with white heat on it so I could brag about it at school. If you're ever thinking of going to this resort, do it. I want to keep my family ski trip a tradition when I have a family of my own one day because I know how worth it it'll be and the memories my kids could make here one day. Sunday River holds a special place in my heart (if you couldn't already tell) but I can't say enough good about the terrain they offer, their ski school programs, and the experiences they offer.
Family Friendly, Fantastic ski school programs for ALL ages, great all mountain terrain

EL RIO is the best don't listen to the Negative Nancies.
Tons of Variable Terrain and Glades
It has been quite crowded

Main lift (Lift 1 on Barker Mountain) breaks down constantly. It even stranded people (including me) on it for 52 minutes. It had broken down 5 times in 6 days. I have never seen another high-speed lift that is that slow, never mind breaks down all the time. They should be ashamed that they put people on that machine.

Sunday River use to be the gem of New England. Now it has become over crowded, causing long lift lines, narrow trails and icy conditions.
Snowmaking
Long Lift Lines. narrow trails, too crowded causing icy conditions

Skied 12/30/19 , 12/31 - 5-6” of snow each day. Made for tough skiing. Visibility very poor. But, on Jan 1 groomers smoothed out all those unwelcome bumps and conditions were great!
Easy to Get Around the Mountain
