Proximity to Omaha
Staff competence, skier safety and false advertising

Full review

Apart from the proximity to Omaha, there are few positives about this patch of snow in-dispersed with relics of a ski resort . After working around staff incompetences (front desk staff new little beyond a financial transaction), after many patrons waited they opened up after advertised, without tubing, lessons started late, 1/2 lifts running, 1/4.5 runs were open, rubbish skis (see shards of fibreglass) etc etc etc. After being amazed by the terms in the indemnity form (on their website if you want a laugh) I was further amazed by obvious hazards not being padded and even saw a side-run marked closed by a neck high rope strung between two trees. Nothing topped one of the lift staff remarking that he keeps himself warm/occupied on quiet weekdays with alcohol stuffed in his jacket! The area should be a beginners dream, but it is so hazardous I would only recommend to intermediate/advanced skiers... Better still just try cross country skiing under your own steam somewhere else.
