The 2010-2011 ski season at Lookout has been nothing short of phenomenal: far more powder days than not, the setting of a world record (6.5 feet in a week) for snow, an exceptionally long ski season, etc. Lookout is a small, friendly resort that delivers big: best value anywhere (check their early season pass rates!), always early/first to open their season (thanks for being aggressive!), perfect grooming for the blue cruiser types (you folks stay out of my powder!), super friendly and competent staff, great family atmosphere (free ski school) yet some challenging terrain, and very well managed. This is the kind of resort you will eventually ride a chair with one of the owners as this is a mountain owned and operated by those with the same passion for skiing as we share. They probably call it “managing by skiing around.” Lookout also does a great job at promoting many fun special events such as their Big Air event, Slush Cup, Wife Carrying Contest, Big Kuhuna Downhill, and let me not forget to mention their awesome 6,000 calorie Christmas Buffet! Also, according to my son (stay out of my powder son!) Lookout has improved their terrain park. Even those who may call other local resorts home would be wise to also buy a season pass at Lookout for the modest price to take advantage of variety, events, and Lookout’s big pow days. Thank you Lookout for an incredible year!
