Look sum it up short, it's a dump, a lot of beginners, on a dangerous hill. And it's a total death trap and expensive on top of that. Ask Woodbury ambulance how many times they have to go there Any 4 or 5 star reviews are fakes.

It's a death trap
Grandson was injured, poor response and disinterested staff. Car fell victim to smash and grab robbery, one of two that I know of. Again, staff couldn't care less, said they had no insurance for either incident and were in no rush to call the police. Not worth the stress. Will never return.
They had some snow in a snowless winter
Very disinterested staff

Conditions are barely ok. Grass showed at some places. Went because of Groupon deal - but apparently that doesn't give you lift access. They had 1 lift and 1 rope operational. Rope was bad! On the plus side, it was not crowded at all so you could ski at peace.
Not crowded
Bad lifts, not enough snow
I was skeptical about going after reading some of the reviews, but decided to try it for myself. I found the staff to be very friendly and the ski instructor was great with the kids. We also tried tubing and had a blast. The area is small enough that I didn't have to worry about the children getting lost, but large enough to keep us entertained for the day. Overall we had a great day.
Family Friendly, Great Instructor

I love Woodbury Ski Resort! They have so many fun activities for both the summer and winter. I went to the Reggae Fest this weekend and had a wonderful time! I experienced Woodbury for the first time this past winter when I took my kids (11 & 15) skiing and snowtubing and they absolutely loved it! The trails were well groomed and fast. I'm not sure what people are talking about when they said the conditions weren't that great, but I did notice that the reviews were all around the same timeframe (Jan-Mar 2010). If I remember correctly, that wasn't a great winter for skiing and most resorts didn't have such great trails that season. I give Woodbury two thumbs up!
Snow Tubing, Great Runs, Summer Time Fun!
No Cons

With a double chair, a rope tow, and 300 vertical feet, well, there you have it. Woodbury doesn't have much but, it was great the day I skied it. They have done a great job with the huge amount of snow they've gotten this year. They did just enough grooming after a foot of fresh that everybody had a place to make turns and, sombody loooking for really good ones could still find them all afternoon. All afternoon is a bit much to commit to this place given the acreage but, there are a few places that are kinda steep for a few turns and gave up two or three legitimate face shots with all the snow. Won't ski it often but, gald I was there on 1/27/11.
A Foot of Fresh When I Went!!

I had a blast at my birthday party. I brought several of my closest friends up with me to Woodbury ski area on December 11th. We all were a lager enough group to receive a group discount and we paid in cash for an even further discount. My friends and I rented equipment in the newly renovated main lodge. Some of us boarded and some of us skied. Our package included a lesson which was a bonus because none of us came up really knowing what we were doing. There were lots of choices at the snack bar. It was like going to a ski resort without the intimidation of long lines and lots of skiers racing around you as you try and balance with all your might. There was this snowboard competition going on that day that was really fun to watch. For a small mountain Woodbury ski area has so many things for snowboarders to play on. Those kids spent all day catching air and sliding on these rails and other things. They had music playing all day and a fire in the fire place. This will defiantly go down as my best birthday yet.
A great party skiing and snowboarding and after we went tubing!
The teperture started to get colder around 3.
Felt I had to post after seeing the abysmal prior reviews, which gave me real pause going and bringing my 5 and 3 year olds this weekend. I was very much on the fence after reading the reviews, and maybe had some low espectations because of them, but did not see a lot of what the other reviewers saw. To give some perspective, I'd been to Woodbury several times, but not in 15 years, having moved out of the area. I've got a 5 year old and 3 year old just on skis this year. The 3 year old has taken to it like a fish to water, the 5 year old not so much. We wente because it had tubing, which the 5 year old would love. If I could get him up a couple of times skiing to help his confidence, that was gravy. The 3 year old would love both. This kind of profile is what you'd be looking for to take your family there, or go without family. One of the group has to be non-skiing to want the tubing. The tubing is on the other side of the street and is flat out very good. (I've never been to another tubing place though so have little to compare it to.) Just a ton of fun, 3 working great tracks, smiles all around. Not your typical skiing crowd either, which can be good. Real fun that. Re the skiing hill, it's obviously tiny. Not tiny like the east coast isn't the rockies, tiny like it's a big backyard run. Maybe a slight exaggeration. But it isn't more than 5 or 600 yards long, I'd imagine. PLEASE NOTE -- For a small hill, it's not ideal for people learning to ski. It is very good for first timers, especially young ones. It has a magic carpet to a gentle area, that's decent. However, if you want to graduate, it only has a couple of options. First is a rope tow, which isn't the easiest thing to use. Second is a lift (think there's a second that wasn't on yesterday) that goes to the top of the small hill. The issue with that is that the hill has some real pitch. Not steep for good skiiers by any means, but not a bunny slope. I saw two people fall in the short time we were there and get a little banged up. My 3 year old has been on skis 5 times, but is a superstar. He had no issues with it. I wouldn't have taken my older son up there even if he wanted to go. We were just back from Okemo and comparing it to a place like that is dumb. The people were bvery nice and friendly though to us, contrary to what other people saw. If considering Woodbury, I would say a couple of things. First, if you have someone who doesn't want to ski, or doesn't want to ski much, tubing is a lot more fun than forcing them to either ski or sit in the lodge. Second, as a first time place on skis, the magic carpet is good (go to right side facing hill because it does slope back to the carpet a bit), and you've got the tubing too. Third, the snowboard park (I board) is fine. If you have teenagers who like that, definitely think about this place. I would not reccomend it to a group that was just skiing, and weren't first timers, as it's not ideal for that beginning range (2-6 times out) and if you really ski, it's going to be too short for you. All this said, I was happy with what we got and didn't find it overpriced. I'll go back.
location, tubing
not perfect for all
Went there for family tube rental ($152),They took our money from the front door we went out the back to get our tubes - none were available. Bathrooms were disgusting, dining area little to be desired. We rented tubes, the Ski-area had none available but would not give us our money back while they were still taking money in for other would-be renters.
Nothing good to say
Expensive Rip-off
Woodbury likes to brag that they are the first ski area open every season, but trust me, it is the last place you will want to ski. The one dinky chair lift makes you go UPHILL to get on and makes its turn around at the top before it lets you ski down and away, so watch out. The trails are poorly groomed and poorly defined. I never saw so many snow boarders and skiiers lying down, and the place was not at all crowded. They were making snow and grooming while we were there ~ 11a., which restricted the available ski area to almost zero. We left after just one run, but considered it better to take the $56 loss than put our life and limb to further risk. If only I had read the onthesnow.com reviews BEFORE we went, we would have known better than to waste our gas, time, and money.
Nicely laquered pine benches and tables in lodge, not at all crowded.
Poorly groomed, trails poorly defined, one dinky chair lift, very dangerous over-all.
