Nestled along the Continental Divide in the Sawatch Range within the San Isabel National Forest near Salida, Colorado, Monarch Mountain features 800 acres of skier and rider accessible terrain blanketed by 350+ inches of natural snowfall. Although Monarch Mountain is known for its cat skiing, it offers 53 lift served trails rated at 27% beginner, 30% intermediate, and 43% most difficult. 130 of the 800 acres features hike-to terrain in the Mirkwood Basin wherein 88% is considered extreme and 12% is rated most difficult. Monarch Mountain thrives on offering cat skiing over 1,000 plus acres of expert terrain; steeps, trees, cliffs and bowls with great powder and spectacular views.
