Loveland's Doug Evans took this photo of an "Ice halo" while riding chair 1 at Loveland Ski Area yesterday. A thin layer of cirrus clouds covered the sun. The ice crystals in the cloud act like prisms and mirrors splitting the suns light into distinct colors. These colorful clouds are common this time of year so keep you eyes open for them on fair weather days.
Have you checked out the Ptarmigan Roost Cafe? Now you can get tasty food and a beverage at the top of Chair 2. Right now it's open Thursday-Sunday. Come up and enjoy the view while you have lunch at 12,050 ft. We also added some nice restrooms too!!
