I just got back from Durango Mountain Resort and had a wonderful time. The snow was great as usual and the staff was very friendly. I got there about an hour before the lifts opened and luckily the rental lines were not too bad. The best thing about Durango is that it's never really crowded - this peaceful mountain is all yours and the scenery is fantastic! We waited no more than a minute or so at any of the lifts. On the downside, as the previous reviewer mentioned, the resort has a lot of construction going on. That's OK though because it's definately needed and will be fabulous in the coming years as the new lodge and condos takes shape. The current lodge is worn and shows it's age so it's exciting to see so much progress going on. Hopefully the new buildings will include more options for dining or simply relaxing. Parking is currently down a hill from the lodge but a shuttle bus ran continuously between the two. As far as lodging, I'd recomend the cozy Cascade Village (1 mile north) or if you don't mind the 25 minute drive, stay at one of the many hotels in the wonderful town of Durango. Overall, this is a good resort which WILL be great with the new additions.
