Posh but friendly, Beaver Creek Resort appeals especially to families and groups of friends, but the big surprise for advanced and expert skiers and riders is the impressive amount of tough terrain. The heart of this resort is a small European-style ski village clinging to the base of Beaver Creek Mountain. The skiable terrain sprawls across two more smaller mountains—Bachelor Gulch and Arrowhead—and all three mountains are stitched together via cat tracks. Visitors staying in Avon can take a gondola to the chairlifts. Beaver Creek lift tickets are valid at Vail, 20 minutes away by public transportation.
