Mountain High is an interesting grouping of not one, but three resorts and, though they are only a mile apart, each offers its own brand of fun as well as distinct differences in terrain and atmosphere. The West Resort is filled with an array of technical trails and skillfully-designed terrain features to satisfy the sport's new freestyle culture. It is the more youthful of the three areas and the site of many on-hill contests, promotions, and live performances. It is also Southern California's only local resort open seven nights a week. The East Resort boasts cruising trails more than a mile and a half long, moguls and breathtaking views of the Mojave Desert. Rising 8,200 feet, East Resort offers traditional skiers and snowboarders a true alpine experience without having to journey far from home. The best news is the drive from L.A., Orange County or San Diego is short and there is virtually no traditional mountain driving.
