Big White Ski Resort is a great destination for all types of skiers and snowboarders, offering wide expansive terrain, light dry powder, short lift lines and modern facilities. The Big White Village is home to the most ski-in/ski-out accommodations in Canada.
Located in scenic British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley, Big White is about 56 kilometers or 35 miles outside the town of Kelowna. The ski area is situated on the side of Big White Mountain and offers terrain suited to span the spectrum of ability levels. The resort is an excellent family destination offering a wide array of family-friendly activities, including snowshoeing, tubing, skating, snowmobiling, dog sledding, horse-drawn sleigh rides and Nordic skiing.
Kelowna International Airport (YLW) is serviced by many of the top Canadian airlines - Air Canada Jazz, WestJet, Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air, and Regional 1 Airlines. These carriers are partnered with many international carriers and fly non-stop to Kelowna daily from Toronto (YYZ), Vancouver (YVR), Victoria (YYJ), Kamloops (YKA), Calgary (YYC), Edmonton (YEG), Lethbridge (YQL), Red Deer (YQF) and Seattle (SEA). Airport hosts can be found in the arrivals lounge and are identifiable by their yellow vests. Daily frequent and efficient shuttle service is available between the resort and the airport.
Big White and Silver Star are the closest Western Canadian resorts to Toronto, though "close" in Canadian terms is relative. WestJet offers six non-stop flights per week, as well as daily direct flights from Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. Air Canada, and Air Canada Jazz flights in and out of Kelowna from Calgary and Vancouver are just 40 minutes. You could be skiing within 1.5 hours of arrival.
Take Highway 33 from Kelowna and drive just 35 miles Southeast to Big White. Use Highway 97C from points West into Kelowna and then resume on Highway 33.
Highway 97 from the South takes you along Okanagan Lake into Kelowna and then hop on Highway 33 to Big White.
Big White's Official Kelowna Airport/Big White Shuttle Service will transport you from Kelowna Airport to Big White Ski Resort in no time at all. Big White owns the shuttle service so you can book through Central Reservations (www.bigwhite.com/home_showSection_ID_11_subID_221.html). They will pick you up from the airport and drop you right off outside your accommodation.
You may also use Okanagan Shuttle (250-766-4280; www.okanaganshuttle.com) to and from the Kelowna Airport and hotels.
