A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
Can't beat the grooming and staff is very friendly. None of the ticket kiosk machines would work for anyone the day we were there, so had to wait in line to get RFID ticket. The price selling point of controlling crowds by limiting tickets is really not a benefit during the week. We did enjoy the day, but not sure the value is there for the price and overall the resort has declined in my mind in recent years. ... Full Review

Deer Valley has changed dramatically since Alterra took over. Virtually all services and experiences have declined. It's still good, just not great like it used to be. Everything from the cookies to the grooming to the snowmaking to the food to the value to the overall experience has dropped to a level closer to many other resorts. It no longer stands alone in a league of its own!!... Full Review

The normal knock your socks off experience of friendly staff and a welcoming helping hand was not present March 2022. The new card readers seldomed work on the first time or even correctly at all. The cost continues to climb but the value seems to have declined versus or experience in February 2020. Love that its a ski only mountain still. ... Full Review

DV used to be spectacular. Now it is crowded, poorly groomed, over-priced, and under-staffed. Buildings are dated and worn. Parking is gone by 10am. Alterra and Ikon have killed the golden goose. Ski somewhere else. Anywhere else.... Full Review

Deer Valley used to be incredible. The grooming was the best I'd ever experienced. This has changed for the worse very little grooming now. Lodge food is below average - it used to be amazing (fresh baked pies and cookies, hot chili, sliced NY steak) now just average ski lodge food. Crowded - Deer Valley used to cap the number of skiers - now it is packed so get ready to wait in lines.
It's sad to see a once great resort go downhill so fast - it is no longer the high end, high service, customer first place - even the employees talk about the good old days before they sold... Full Review

Deer Valley Resort was wonderful, the runs were great, and the views were spectacular. It's everything you would want in a ski-only resort. But what really sets this place apart is the staff that works there.
Our car key was accidentally locked in the trunk of our car in the parking lot. Ski School Instructor Hunter Marlon not only called AAA for us, when AAA got repeatedly delayed, he waited with us in the freezing cold weather for a total of 3 hours (AFTER his shift). He even ran late to his family dinner appointment for us. And Hunter wasn't even our ski instructor!
We couldn't have been more grateful.
The warm hospitality and patience Hunter showed us definitely made us want to come back again to Deer Valley very soon.
If you visit Deer Valley and would like an awesome person to be your ski instructor, look for Hunter! ... Full Review

We just came home from a weeks vacation in Deer Valley Ski resort and can not say enough great things about it. Short lines, only skiers. Their covid guidelines were amazing. The safety and security we felt there was refreshing. I highly recommend the free Mount tour. We had Scott Rhodes as our intermediate guide and he took us on a two hour tour of the mountain. We went from the west to the farthest east of the mountain we got to explore areas we would have missed. Will return to deer valley next year.... Full Review

My son and I flew in to ski Park City, but reserved one day at Deer Valley, because we heard that it has a reputation for superior customer service. What a disappointment!! We spent 40 minutes in line just to pick up our pre-ordered tickets, then another 30 minutes in the lift line just to get onto the mountain. Once on the mountain, we found DV’s famed reputation for superior trail grooming to be no better than Park City’s. The ski terrain was “just OK”, with chair lifts serving the upper peaks less than 1,500 vertical. My advice - don’t waste $200-plus on a Lift ticket for Deer Valley. You get a much better experience at Park City for a lot less money!... Full Review
