It is too costly for the amount of trails open and for some of the rude staff running the lift chairs. They don’t slow it down if it seems like you are struggling. It’s a shame that everything’s changed.... Full Review

In my opinion Montage compares very favorably with other PA ski areas. You cannot beat the weekday prices, which even include rentals if you need them. It was not crowded which was very nice. College day was a interesting time with quite the entertaining crowd. The vibe was very laid-back, unlike Blue Mountain and Camelback. The staff were friendly. There is a good layout of trails and a very nice variety, ranging from some nice and easy greens and blues, including some cool runs looping through the trees, to White Lightning, which I do believe them that it is legitimately one of the steepest slops in the east, as advertised. Now on the downside the lifts are truly by no means speedy but I think the lack of lines helps make up for it, and I don't think you really need to be in too big a hurry at Montage Mountain. If you go all the way from the top to the bottom there is a pretty long run and respectable vertical drop, but it does take a hot minute to get back up all the way to the top if you do that. Unless you are from the Scranton area it is probably a half hour or so farther than some larger ski areas but in my opinion it was worth the extra drive for a nice change of pace. Being a little farther north than some other PA areas you also may have somewhat more favorable skiing weather.... Full Review

Too costly for a lift ticket/day bundle! Overall, it feels small - too many trails crammed. The Double Black Diamonds are only challenging. Lodge / food options are empty and missing. Customer Service is bad.... Full Review

My friend took me here, it was my first time snowboarding or skiing. I rented a snowboard and he showed me the basics and everything on the bunny hill. After a while I thought I was ready to try a bit bigger one to learn how to stop and turn correctly. He tells me that White Lightning is a small hill that’s perfect for beginners. Im getting a little concerned because he’s leading me into an area with lots of big dangerous looking trails. I start to go down it and I’m getting better, then I pick up speed. I only catch a glimpse of the hill before me before I try to stop myself. I slip and start to fall down the slope. I look behind me, “ok it’s not that steep I can stop myself” I thought. I stopped right before the big drop off. “Oh, nevermind”. My friend stops beside me. I yell at him and start to slip. I reach for his hand but it’s too late. I shoot like a burst of lightning down the hill, seeing my friend up at the top standing there menacingly. I’m falling way too fast now, and I’m picking up snow. I start to tumble down the hill and I hurt myself bad at the bottom. I die. But, I spend the next couple hours regenerating and healing. I try some smaller hills (Highball is a doozy!) Overall great experience but don’t listen to your friends listen to the trail map.... Full Review
