Craigieburn Valley Ski Area is located 110 km west of Christchurch, making it an easy 1.5-hour drive from the city or airport. The turnoff is clearly marked 9 km past Castle Hill Village, and the final 6 km access road winds through native beech forest. All vehicles must carry snow chains, especially for the upper section above the creek, which can be icy. Campervans are not recommended beyond the base parking area due to road conditions.
There is no public transportation directly to the ski field, but private shuttles can be arranged from Christchurch or Springfield. Parking is available at the base of the access road, and guests hike or skin up to the ski area.
