Always fun and a pleasure at Giants Ridge. It's not Aspen but I didn't expect it to be. Very good value, short lift lines, variety of runs, top notch from top to bottom.
We never are disappointed when we leave and always look forward to our return. ... Full Review
Beautiful views of Wynne and Sabin Lakes and outstanding snow conditions. Icy patches are the norm for Minnesota ski resorts but the 2 trips I have made to Giants Ridge this winter have been tremendous. The snow conditions at Giants Ridge have been terrific. Giants Ridge also has a great ski school for kids and adults alike. I highly recommend Giants Ridge.... Full Review
Giants Ridge, calling this place average is a nice statement. The terrain park was bad, the runs were bad, the chairs were old and run down, it was pricey, and it had a small beginner area. Food was bad as well. I usually would give a reccomendation on where you should go on the mountain, but for this place my reccomendation is to go to either Spirit Mtn or Lutsen. Or just don't go. Don't waste your time and money here.... Full Review
The skiing was the only thing that was good at Giants Ridge. The food at the chalet is very very expensive, and not very good so pack your own lunch. The Lodge was a total disaster. Our room was not ready at check in,and the pool was warmer than the hot tub. Our room never got below 80 degrees, which normally would be nice, but when putting on ski clothes, it gets a bit uncomfortable. Also we payed extra for a room with a fire place, and were not able to use it. We even tried opening the windows to cool it down. We also didn't get maid service. When I brought these problems to the front desk, they acted put off to actually have to deal with someone, were unsympathetic and I had to ask for some garbage bags and more towels. ... Full Review
I stayed at "The Lodge" right next to the slopes and it was a lot of fun being able to go out - come back in for a rest and some coffee, n go back out and hit some more runs.... Full Review
Ive visited this place twice and have liked it both times. It isn't a Lutsen, but that is fine with me. This resort is in a remote area and requires a long drive from Minneapolis, but it is nice to get away from the city. I dont care much for terrain arks, so i really dont care if this one is up to par. Worth the visit, but an extera hour of driving into the middle of nowhere will get you to Lutsen, which is by no doubt the best overall in the Midwest.... Full Review
I have been too 8 different resorts this season. Giants Ridges website claims that they the #1 terrain park in the state and the #2 in the midwest. 7 of the 8 places i have been too have had way better terrain parks! And they all had less runs but sick parks. I love to ride rails and boxes. From the info on there website i was vary excited to go and check out there parks. Bigger ski resort even bigger terrain park disapointment ... Full Review
Giants Ridge is just an average ski area. They have bad food, bad chairs and a bad terrain park. But they do have 35 runs. If the Calgary chair is closed it doesn't matter. Also their lift tickets are ripoffs.... Full Review
Terrific snow conditions and great customer service from the ski school staff make Giants Ridge a perfect place to take the family. Our family has visited Giants Ridge four times in the past 8 years and each time we leave more impressed. Giants Ridge is located in a beautiful part of the Sate and the views of Wynne Lake while skiing are breath taking. Anyone interested in a low key and relaxing ski trip will enjoy Giants Ridge.... My husband and I just got back from skiing at Giant's Ridge on Saturday, February 17th. We haven't downhill skied at Lutsen (cross-country there only), so keep that in mind as you read this.
Having skied at the places near the Twin Cities multiple times, we really enjoyed the change in scenery (literally) that Giants Ridge had to offer. There were times when we just stopped, mid-run, to gape at the scenery offered before us - it was beautiful! We are intermediate skiers who sometimes take the Black Diamonds, but beyond the thrill of the speed rush, we enjoy good snow, good slopes, and long runs (longer than we were used to, anyhow!).
We were fortunate in that there weren't huge crowds, and we enjoyed relative peace & quiet while skiing, and virtually NO lift lines.
We'd recommend Giants Ridge for Beginner & Intermediate skiers - there's easily enough runs to keep them occupied. :)... Full Review
