If you are beginner like me, you will LOVE Winter Park. The terrain is MUCH larger than the map makes it out to be. I went for the first time during the Winter 2018/2019 Season with my in-laws who had never skied before (It had been 5+ years for me). For someone who needs to start out getting their "ski legs" again after a few years, Take the Gemeni Express Lift from the Base to Discovery Park where there is plenty of room and gentle slopes on Bill Wilson's Way & other nearby trails (Discovery and Endeavour Lift will let you practice to your heart's content). Their ski school is great and they offer a heavily discounted lift ticket with lesson.
Once you feel good, take Prospector Express Lift from that area and take Jack Kendrick or Easy Way a few times. From there, you can get more adventurous and take Explorer Express Lift up to Sunspot Lodge, where you can take a few more adventurous green trails down. I only tackled Green Terrain over my 2 days and didnt get to the tops of High Lonesome Express Lift (all green there). Some resorts have green terrain but to get there, you have to take a lift and ski through some more intermediate terrain before getting to the easier greens. Other resorts have 3-5 trails that have a single Beginner ski lift, so things get boring but not at Winter Park. Winter Park is perfect because almost all lifts drop you into areas that have green trails.
Once you are ready to move to intermediate and advanced terrain (or someone in your group is an avid Skier), there is plenty of terrain to choose from on every skill level. This is a great resort for groups that have varying skill levels, especially for those that have never skied before.
The place was fairly affordable for what you get (especially if you buy tickets in multi-day packs and book lodging before the season starts). Food options were good but the buffets are not anything to write home about. After ski activities were decent (you can take the gondola up to the Sunspot lodge after 4 for Apres). The resort itself is nice and fairly modern and well equipped (shops are a little expensive though). The town nearby is nice but not as lively as Aspen or Breckenridge. For those that don't ski, there is a few things to do in WP but not when compared to Aspen or Breckenridge. The town is also a few miles away from the Resort, so dont expect a short walk to a place in town (you will need a ride or take their fairly good shuttle system to town).
We liked it enough that we are coming back for the 2021/2022 season for a 5 day (3 ski days) stay.... Full Review
I-70 ski areas, WP can stack up to them day-in-day-out.
I now live in the Pacific NW and am near a major regional resort that has a lot of ski area acreage but the management does not have the professional chops to keep people coming back. WP on a powder day compares with the best: Steamboat, Aspen, and even, Telluride.

Really skiing at any of the Colorado resorts off of I-70 is about the same. What makes Winter Park more desirable for me is its friendly staff. Winter Park is definitely lower key than the others too and I like that.... Full Review
Unfortunately there's not much new snow predicted for the week of the 23rd through the first week of march. With the freezing temperatures the slopes were a little icy yesterday. It's been very windy and gusty. All in all it's still beautiful and I enjoyed the lack of people on the mountain.... Full Review
Great place except over run, lots of rocks!... Full Review
I love Winter Park. The terrain is soo very fun and challenging. I ski and snowboard and both are awesome to do at Winter Park. I especially love Mary Jane. Winter Park Rocks!!!!... Full Review
Powder day conditions brought the crowds. We skied Friday during a snow storm in a foot of powder. Even though a few roads were closed, it was crowded. Saturday’s crowd was shoulder to shoulder on long lift lines and it felt dangerous on the intermediate slopes. Must have set a record at WP. Hard to pick a line and ski it without being dive bombed from behind. Sunday was a bit easier to dodge the crowds, perhaps because it was 20 degrees and snowing. Found some joy without fear of being hit. Very expensive given this experience.... Full Review
This has one of the largest sets of terrain of anywhere I have been and i have been skiing for a couple or so decades!!
You can choose groomers or deep pow through to the most challenging moguls.
There are 7 terrain areas spread across the mountain terrain and there really is something to suit everyone. The place is amazing.
Ski school is great with wonderful professionals and everything to steeps and bumps through to easy turners... perfection.
The town is fab and the best place to stay is at the base in Zephyr Mountain Lodge. Book direct through VRBO as its the best value... 21 inches over the Christmas period... amazing.... Full Review
