    More Snow In The Southern Hemisphere, More Glaciers Re-open In the Alps

    The southern hemisphere's ski season is continuing to ‘take off' as more snow reaches Australia and some snow arrives in South America and New Zealand. In Europe more glacier ski areas are opening in Italy and Switzerland, but several report another 20-30cm weekly drop in snow depth, while across the Atlantic, after peaking with over a dozen ski areas open for national holidays in Canada and the US last weekend, only three are open this weekend.

    Head North For Fresh Snow

    With the ski season ending in France last Tuesday 8th May when Tignes and Val Thorens, the last two resorts operating, ended their ski seasons and less than 10 glacier ski areas still open in Austria, Italy and Switzerland, the resorts of northern Europe and of North America are the places to head for May skiing – Canada, Scotland and Scandinavia are all enjoying a particularly good May 2012 if it’s snow rather than golf or biking you want.
