Valle de Méribel Ski Resorts FAQ

Valle de Méribel: The Heart Of Trois Vallees

Méribel is right in the middle of the famous Trois Vallees, the world’s largest ski domain.

Méribel is felt by many to be the prettiest of the villages because of its wooden chalets. It's in the Savoie, the French province that hosted the 1992 Winter Olympics, run by Jean-Claude Killy, the world famous racer.

Méribel includes three neighboring villages in the Les Allues commune of the Savoie: Méribel Centre, Méribel-Mottaret, and Village. The villages are all within the Vanoise National Park. Meribel was home to the 1992 Winter Olympics (Albertville). It hosted the women's downhill and ice hockey events.

The ski resort is part of The Trois Vallées ski area, which is comprised of more than 200 lifts, 293 marked runs (over 600 km) and some 130 km of cross-country tracks. The Trois Vallees, if size truly matters, is the world's largest ski area.

Méribel-Mottaret, a more modern village, also has been built near the head of the Allues valley at an altitude of 1,700 metres. Méribel Village is the traditional village located on the road to Courchevel, at about 1,400 metres.

Gateway Airports are at Lyon St. Exupeys (185 km) and Geneva (135 km). Driving? Motorway to Albertville, dual carriageway to Moûtiers, then 18 km of mountainous road up to area. Ski bus connections are available from all airports. Take the train to Moûtiers (18 km from the resort.)
