Great skiing especially late in the season, as early season due to the resort being low level results in poor snow fall. Go out of peak times and the pistes (250km) are empty, theres a vast expanse to explore. thou many of the best runs are a distance via many runs and lift systems to get to, or a bus ride (Westendorf), but definately worth the visit. Many runs are tree lined but few are technical. Which could leave an experienced skier a little bored, with virtually no off piste to be had. There are only really 2 black runs on the mountain, one of which is just above soll itself and is worth skiing for its sheer steepness. The piste maps locally are poor, with runs going off at every angle, but signs on the mountain are fairly easy to follow, so we found it best to just follow your instinct till you get a feel for the mountain ridge. Which ever run you take theres a lift at the bottom linking to somewhere else. So for the adventurous, leave the map at home and enjoy the skiing. You'll somehow find your way home. The resort itself is small but has a couple of lovely restaurants and a couple of lively bars with the Whiskeymuhle staying open late with live bands on most nites. The lift system is about a 15 min walk from the village and although we heard bad things about the free bus system, we found no problems at all with it, regular and punctual. Also a point to note, hired a taxi over to Kitzbuhl for the day, its about a 40 min drive and cost 40 euros each way, but the taxi holds 6 so its a great value alternative to the skiwelt and you get a discount with your lift pass for a kitzbuhl day pass, so no excuse not to go experience the Hannakann run!
