  • Verbier adds more snowmaking, but gets more snow anyway

    Verbier will open early on Saturday with excellent conditions thanks to large pre-season snowfalls. The ski club of britiain reports that it received another 16 inches (40cm) at the top and two inches (5cm) in resort in the past 48 hours. Slopes will be open for the next two weekeds and then full time from December 1st.

  • Zermatt begins 24 hour rail access

    Following the opening of the multi-billion pound/Euro/Dollar 34.6km (22 mile) long Lötschberg Base Tunnel, access from Zurich the Zermatt takes less than 200 minutes, cutting more than an hour from the old journey time.

  • New, year-round educational trail opened in Saas-Fee

    Saas Fee, which boasts 300 days of sunshine each year, has opened a new "Sun Trail". The new run descends from the Hannig upper station - also called the Sonnenberg, or "sunny hill" - down to Café Alpenblick, taking about 25 minutes to make the descent. The run will be open all year

    Superstar Alanis Morissette will headline an end-of-winter-season music festival at Zermatt. Morissette will perform on the second day of the Zermatt Unplugged festival which is scheduled to run from April 9th to the 12th at the famous Swiss village which is open for snow sports 365 days a year and runs Europe’s highest ski lifts.
