The sheer magnitude, mitigated by the ease of reaching far flung skiing with ease. The snow record is unmatched (altitude). 2 glaciers, Tignes has different vibe, with some big skiing on its own. It's almost as if 5 seperate ski areas exist in one....Easy blues all the way to some fantastic blacks. The town is great; all ranges of accomodations. The food, on or off the hill is as good as it gets....I will return; maybe my favorite...
its Val, the best in europe, snow
expensive

Been to Val D'isere many times in both Summer and Winter seasons. Chosen primarily as it's high altitude and snow sure during late Easter school holidays. Also a great mix of pistes for all levels of skill. Massive varied piste and side piste, with access to fantastic off piste. Night life, restaurants range from fantastic Pizza n love, to Michelin starred Chez Edouard. Don't drink, but apparently the bars and clubs are good too. Great sports centre with spa, gym, fantastic pool, bouldering etc.
Long snow sure season, excellent modern facilities. Easy access to slopes and town life
More expensive than some. Ski focused.

Somewhat jaded and living off past glories. Apart from the best hotels, accommodation is tired, dirty and in some cases dangerous. The lift system lacks recent investment and is put to shame by resorts in Austria and Switzerland. Mountain food is expensive and not good value.
Vast area, best above Fornet or towards Tignes
Crowded, prone to avalanche. Under invested.

My favourite spot in the Alps. Espace Killy is huge, beautiful and never boring. Everyone will find something to love in Val d'Isère. Strangely not as crowded as other resorts in France or Switzerland. Worth its price. Plenty of restaurants and bars for after-ski. The hotels are amazing and the access to everywhere around Killy is easy. Free shuttles!

Excellent resort for good skiers that ski or board and do not parade their toy dogs in furs all day
drop and reliability of snow
runs to village can be icy and should not be blues

We have been skiing in Val for the last 30 years, the domaine improves constantly. The skiing area is catered to all levels including lots of off pistes. All well maintained. You ski up in the morning and do not come down until the end of the day as the choice is endless. The resort is high enough to always have snow. General atmosphere is friendly. You can enjoy a nice romantic dinner or party hard.
best range of slopes/pistes
dining is expensive, resort is far
Lift lines very manageable at worst... and light for the most part. One week End January. Got lucky with snowfall and had plenty of powder dive into. A couple of days had very poor visibility but that's what you have to go through when it's snowing. Great off piste for intermediate to advanced skiers with fantastic steep tree runs near base at village of Fornet. Don't be afraid to venture skiers right of the chair all the way down from the top to Fornet, (Advanced) Keep crossing the cat track. Many of the skiers and boarders seem to be relatively inexperienced so stuck to the groomers which is great for the powder seekers. Plenty untouched even a few days after a snow. It's snowing there now. I wish I were there! Awesome expansive terrain. Will go back. Stayed at Hotel Diva. Small rooms but great location, great staff, great bar lounge and amazing food! Can't say enough about the food! Far exceeded my expectations. Go and enjoy! .
Great off Piest Powder well presereved
