I came across this ski area by accident - would definitely return. I chose to stay in Le Fayet near the railway station. so I could explore the Skiing area of St Gervais / Megeve. Le Fayet trains station is about 10/15 min bus journey from the St Gervais town and Ski lift. le Fayet is reasonably well connected to St Gervais by a free minibus service, mini tram and regular bus service. (minibus are always free, regular bus service you have to pay) I hired all my ski equipment from one of the shops at Le Bettex (top of the cable car) and also a locker so that I didn't need to bring everything back to Le Fayet. If I missed a bus after skiing I used the time to go for a coffee or beer in St Gervais. The best places to shop for food were casino and carrefore which were both in st Gervais. Lots of really nice bars and coffee shops to explore too. St Gervais minibus are all free - you hop on / off at different stops around the town. Le Fayet is much quieter place to stay. There are a handful of restaurants and coffee shops - but enough for a few days stay. In Le Fayet There is a tram/railway that takes you up the mountain to the Les Houches Ski area with amazing views of Mt Blanc ( buy tickets from behind the post office ) there is also a market in Le Fayet on a Wednesday outside the Train Station and on a Thursday in St Gervais town. This is a good place to stay if you want to explore the St Gervais - Mont Blanc area in Summer or Winter. Here are the bus times I used in 2017.... Free minibus to cable car (catch outside the post office) Up 915am, Down 4pm Pay bus (€1.50) up to cable car ( catch from train station) 825,1010,1710,1805,1910 Pay bus down from st gervais ( catch at cable car or a couple min later at the st gervais end of the big bridge) 1533,1613, 1715, 1623, 1925, 2023 Old fashioned Tram up st Gervais (€ 6) 9, 11, 1310, 1510.
