The jet stream remains active across the West over the next five days delivering heavy snowfall. In the Northeast, it's just the opposite with a drier pattern settling in through Saturday and possible snow Sunday-Monday.

Pacific Northwest: A small atmospheric river pattern sets up through the weekend. That keeps an abundance of moisture slamming into the Cascades and volcanoes. Snow is likely each day. Five-day snow accumulations could range from 3-6 feet at the highest elevations.

Whistler Blackcomb: A banner five-day stretch as the resort benefits from the small atmospheric river pattern. Heavy snow accumulations likely.

Wyoming, Montana, Idaho: Another banner five day stretch. Two storm systems deliver heavy snow accumulation to all three states. The first storm hits Thursday-Friday. The second storm hits Saturday-Sunday. Schweitzer, Whitefish Mountain, Sun Valley, Jackson Hole and Grand Targhee can all expect heavy snow accumulation from both storm systems.

California: Snow continues at Tahoe and Mammoth on Thursday and lingers into Friday. Heavy snow accumulations. Then a drier pattern for Saturday-Sunday. The next storm might arrive by midweek. Kirkwood, Northstar and Heavenly look good on Friday after the snow stops.

Colorado, Utah: Snow arrives in Utah on Thursday and into Colorado late Thursday into Friday. Snow accumulation appears moderate in Utah and Colorado at the ski areas. In Colorado, this storm system favors the Central and Northern Mountains. Dry on Saturday and Sunday followed by a storm system Tuesday night-Wednesday.

Northeast: Drier Thursday-Saturday. The next chance of snow arrives Sunday-Monday. Accumulation appears light to moderate at the ski areas. Snow lingers into Tuesday and colder air plunges in.

Tomer's Take: On Friday ski either at Tahoe or in Colorado at Aspen, Vail or Loveland, on Saturday ski Schweitzer or Whistler Blackcomb and on Sunday ski Sun Valley or Grand Targhee.
