Heartbreak Ridge is showing a weakness in its armor this weekend across parts of the West. I'm forecasting a couple chances for light to moderate snowfall accumulation. In the Northeast, I'm forecasting a continuation of the wintry pattern with two Alberta Clippers.

Northeast: Lake effect snow continues off both Lake Erie and Ontario over the next five days. Add to that two Alberta Clippers: one clipper with light snow accumulation on Saturday and a second Clipper with light to moderate snow accumulation from Sunday afternoon through Monday. It looks like a good weekend at Killington, Sunday River and Jay Peak.

Colorado, Utah: Light snow ends in Colorado on Thursday; dry in Utah. A fast moving storm system arrives in both Colorado and Utah midday Saturday and tapers off by Sunday morning. Light to moderate snow accumulations. It looks dry most of next week.

Wyoming, Montana, Idaho: I'm forecasting light to moderate snow accumulation between Friday and Saturday. There is a second chance for light snowfall accumulation between Sunday afternoon and Monday. These are not blockbuster storm systems, but it's a significant improvement over last week.

California: Heartbreak Ridge continues to dominate all of California. Unfortunately, I'm not forecasting any moisture over the next five days.

Pacific Northwest: I'm forecasting consistent light to moderate snow accumulation on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday for the high volcanoes and Cascades.

Whistler/Blackcomb: I'm forecasting light snow accumulation on Friday and Saturday then moderate snow accumulation on Sunday. Hit Whistler Blackcomb on Sunday or Monday for the best conditions.

Tomer's Take: Ski Steamboat or Loveland on Friday, Schweitzer or near the Lake Effect snow in New York State on Saturday and Jackson Hole or Big Sky on Sunday.
