More on ODLO

Since its humble beginnings in Oslo, Norway in the 1940s, ODLO has been inextricably linked to the sport of cross-country skiing. From the first speed skating suit for his son to kitting out 25 National Teams at the 1972 Sapporo Olympics in Japan, founder, Odd Roar Lofterød, pioneered performance apparel for winter sports from the get-go. ODLO continues to embody Lofterød’s passion and commitment to innovate in the sport and this is writ large across its new Nordic Ski line for this season.

The new styles in range have been inspired by Norwegian towns whose residents live and breathe cross-country skiing. Places like Silsand, the villages of Langnes and Brensholmen, and Engvik – a small town on Norway’s west coast renowned for its cold, harsh weather. Each style has its own DNA; designed to suit different environments and levels of intensity. Langnes is the perfect jacket for cold cross-country laps, while Markenes performs well in temperatures just below freezing or even lower if the intensity level is high. If there a full day’s work ahead on the snow then Engvik’s lightweight construction is an ideal solution and if it’s simply affordable quality required for recreational use, Brensholmen is a solid favorite. The pinnacle style, the Merino-wool-insulated Silsand, is for those sub-zero days that take your breath away.

Effective protection from wind chill is something every Nordic skier demands and each ODLO cross-country jacket and pant features a fully windproof, 3-layer softshell that keeps the cold out and the insulation in. Further innovation comes in the form of laser-cut ventilation to maintain airflow and breathability of the garments. And, as ODLO continues its journey to 100% sustainability, this season’s range contains more recycled fabrics than ever before. All the little details are in place such as silicone grippers inside the leg hem, reflective detailing, phone pockets, and enough storage for the day’s essentials. This is cross-country apparel precision-crafted to perform and all wrapped up in ODLO’s classic style.
