New Chairlift At Deer Valley
We may have had a slow season last year but that hasn't stopped resorts from dumping some major bucks into onhill improvements. Deer Valley Resort, for example, has installed a new high-speed detachable quad chairlift, Lady Morgan Express, to expand the ski terrain in Empire Canyon. It's part of a $9 million project that creates 65 acres of gladed skiing and eight new runs for the area. But perhaps one of the most impressive DV projects involves a new "Snow Scan Ground Penetrating Radar." Combined with a GPS system, the radar will provide color-coded maps of snow depth on any part of the mountain, allowing ski resort staffers to manage (and make) snow more efficiently.
