[R163R, Grouse Mountain]'s Peak of Christmas festival has become a holiday tradition for Vancouver families and visitors alike. The festival, which runs through Dec. 24, fills with daily activities and special events.

Santa's workshop opens noon to 8 p.m. daily. Bring the kids for photos with Santa and to meet two of his live reindeer--Dancer and Vixen. Rangers also present interpretive sessions on the reindeer daily at 2 and 4 p.m.

Other daily activities include skiing, snowboarding, ice skating on an 8,000-square-foot mountaintop pond, and sleigh rides across the mountaintop plateau when the weather permits. Live entertainment featuring Christmas music by Vancouver choirs and musicians also runs weekdays 6 - 8 p.m. and weekends 1 - 3 p.m.

The Children's Village includes the Parade of Trees plus scavenger hunts Thursdays through Sundays. The Theatre in the Sky shows classic Christmas movies on a high-definition screen.

All of the Peak of Christmas activities are included with admission tickets to Grouse Mountain or lift tickets. Access to the ice skating pond is free, but ice skate rentals cost $5-8. The Peak of Christmas activities end at 4 p.m. Dec. 24.

Dining is available is several mountaintop restaurants that offer fine dining, casual dining, or bistro fare. The lifts run for skiing and snowboarding daily 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
