The news from northern Vermont is good.

[R395R, Smugglers' Notch] has tripled the length of Full Nelson by taking the classic New England-style trail from above mid-point to the base on Sterling Mountain. Sterling offers skiers and riders a mix of intermediate and advanced terrain including gentle cruisers, narrow steeps, and glades.

Smuggs also is teaming with Flaik GPS to offer all students in its Snow Sport University all-day ski and snowboard camps (ages 3-15) a way to capture their on-mountain fun. The kids will be outfitted with Flaik GPS units that will track the miles, vertical, and trails skied each day and cumulatively. Apres ski they can log on to review the data with friends and family to share their total on-mountain experience and plan adventures for the next day.

All-day children's camp for 3-5 year olds is included in the Club Smugglers' Vacation Package, and ski or snowboard programs for children ages 6-15 years old are 25 percent off; both include Flaik use. Rentals also will be available for $19.95 per day from the resort's 3 Mountain Equipment.

A new Burton Learn To Ride Center at Smugglers' Notch Resort will provide the latest snowboard equipment geared to providing new riders, both children and adults, with a comfortable first time experience. The LTR equipment is an integrated system of boots, bindings and snowboards designed for comfort and ease of use. A softer flex and beveled bottom on the beginner boards makes the edge to edge transition easier for new riders. Boots and bindings are also softer flexing, allowing easier guiding of the board when turning. More than 100 new boards, boots, and bindings will be available at Smugglers'.

The Mountain Experience for adults offers a day-long mountain tour format to adult intermediate skiers and riders. Participants in groups of no more than four will explore Smugglers' three mountains while getting instructional tips from a mountain insider, one of the Resort's Snow Sport University professionals. These adult campers will also enjoy use of a Flaik GPS during their time on the slopes. Who says the kids get to have all the fun?
