Get a free lift to the top of Hidden Peak, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 7-8. [R404R, Snowbird Resort]'s dishing out Aerial Tram rides with a donation to the Utah Food Bank as part of their Customer Appreciation Days. This event occurs later this year due to routine maintenance on the Aerial Tram but it's still happening, weather permitting.

One can of food equals one free Tram ride per person. A $2 donation may be made for a Tram ride, in lieu of food. All food donations benefit the Utah Food Bank and monetary donations benefit the Wasatch Adaptive Sports program.

The need for donations is greater than ever with unemployment and food stamp caseload numbers in Utah at or approaching record levels. The Utah Food Bank is requesting specific items in the categories of hygiene (toothpaste, soap, diapers), canned food (peanut butter, tuna, chili, soup, vegetables, fruit), boxed food (macaroni and cheese, boxed dinners, cake mix) and dry food (beans, pasta, rice).

The Tram will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Bring food to the front entrance of the Snowbird Center, accessed by Snowbird Entry 2. Cash donations will be accepted at the Snowbird Center ticket office.

Snowbird is scheduled to open for the 2009-10 season Saturday, Nov. 21. However, the opening date could change in a blink with cold storms. Check snow reports for the latest updates. Snowbird had a 194-day season last year with skiing and riding from Nov. 7, 2008 to May 31, 2009.
