Cold temps and big snow guns have opened enough terrain at [R113R, Copper Mountain] for the world's best to come and train. Members of the U.S. Ski Team are at Copper, along with national teams from Sweden, Italy, Japan, Australia, and more. They're all training for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver.

Local teams from Team Summit are also taking turns at Copper, before the mountain officially opens to the public.

[R220R, Loveland Ski Area] is hosting the women's U.S. Development Team for early season training. The U.S. Olympic Freestyle team will get in some early training at [R511R, Wolf Creek], on the steep pitch of Alberta Face.

Copper Mountain opens for the winter season Friday, Nov. 6, with the Lift Off celebration festival, Nov. 6-8. The weekend includes ski movies, demos, après specials, and giveaways. The Lift Off concert is Saturday night, Nov. 7.

Top teams from around the world are also traveling to Colorado to compete. The Women's World Cup is in [R25R, Aspen], Nov. 28-29. The U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix is at Copper Dec. 11-12. The U.S. Snowboardcross Cup is at [R456R, Telluride] Dec. 17-20. The Freestyle and Nordic Combined Team Trials are at [R425R, Steamboat] and [R181R, Howelsen Hill] Dec. 23-24.
